ORGANIZATION: Epilepsy Foundation New England

  • 5 people are interested

The Epilepsy Foundation New England (EFNE), a non-profit national foundation dedicated to the welfare of people with epilepsy and seizure disorders, seeks an intern to work in its Advocacy & Public Policy program.

***This internship is for the Spring 2018 semester***

EFNE interns will be exposed to many aspects of state policymaking, and will have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct research on state legislation to further our advocacy work.
  • Write action alerts and legislative updates for our grassroots network.
  • Craft website and social media content.
  • Assist in expanding and working with our statewide network of grassroots advocates. Including our Teens Speak Up Program; a great opportunity to help teens become advocates for the epilepsy community.
  • Assist in preparations for our annual Epilepsy Awareness Day at the State Capitol in Boston.

Previous experience in the nonprofit, public policy sector, or in a legislator’s office is preferred, but not required. This is an unpaid internship, but EFNE provides a transportation subsidy and works with educational institutions to help interns obtain course credit for their work. Students should be prepared to commit 5-10 hours per week.

If you are interested in applying, please fill out our intern application ( http://bttr.im/fr8ni) and send an email to Bill at wmurphy@epilepsynewengland.org with your resume, a cover letter, and a 2-3 page writing sample where you are the primary author.

Students living anywhere in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Maine are welcome to apply.

The Epilepsy Foundation New England is headquartered in Wilmington, MA with field staff in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire & Rhode Island.
