Volunteers
Join us for the Walk to Defeat ALS!

To prioritize the health and safety of all involved and as North Carolina continues to respond to the pandemic with physical distancing, we have made the decision to transition all 2020 Walk to Defeat ALS events across the state into one day of local mini-Walks hosted by our supporters in their community. Regardless of the original date scheduled for your Walk, all Walks will now take place on one day with one goal - to Create a World Without ALS!

Even though we will miss our traditional Walk volunteering this year, we are asking you to consider volunteering with the NC Chapter by helping lead a mini-Walk within your community. Volunteers like you have a huge impact on ALS families and by creating your own Walk to Defeat ALS team, fundraising, and joining with thousands of other supporters across the state, you will be part of the single biggest day of Hope North Carolina’s ALS community has ever seen.

In addition to participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS we also ask you to consider joining a new How To Get Involved webinar hosted by the NC Chapter to learn about all the ways to support this community during this time.

Mission Statement

To discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

Description

The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS. ALSA covers all the bases -- research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy -- in providing help and hope to those facing the disease.

The ALS Association (National Office and the North Carolina Chapter) operates under a shared mission: To discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

We work together to accomplish our mission. The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter focuses primarily on helping local patients and families live with ALS while the National Office focuses primarily on research and advocacy. The Chapter supports the National Office through revenue sharing and research contributions. The National Office supports the Chapters by providing up-to-date information and materials.

Our accomplishments are made possible by the generosity of others. From the smallest donation to the largest gift, donors touch the ALS community with hope for the future.
