Beginning in February, Junior Achievement of Oklahoma will be going to Briarwood Elementary School in Moore to lead 2nd grade students in activities that help help them better understand businesses and the many jobs those businesses offer in a community.
Students who participate in JA understand how to control their finances, are better prepared for the workforce, and feel they are personally in control of their destiny, which contributes towards overall optimism and hope.
Volunteers are provided with a curriculum packet with all the materials needed to teach the lessons (including a step-by-step lesosn plan book), and a one-hour training session to prepare them for going into the classroom. Volunteers will visit the classroom for one 30-45 minute lesson over 5-6 weeks.
