G.I. Joe Search and Rescue - The Joe Le Foundation

The Chairman of Volunteer Services relays the responsibility of communicating with and organizing the program’s volunteers. His/her role depends on the ability to retain volunteering incentive through products, services, catalogs and other promotional efforts. Through his/her role, the Chairman of Volunteer Services becomes the intermediary between coordinated events and the volunteers. Because G.I. Joe Search and Rescue is differentiated between two fields, administration and field work, the Chairman of Volunteer Services is responsible for assigning volunteers to each division. To do so he/she must retain quality leadership skills in order to deliver functional service to G.I. Joe Search and Rescue’s clients. Furthermore, The Chairman of Volunteer Services must have the capability to further develop and revolutionize the volunteer program through the extended reach of the organization. He/she is expected to take a proactive role in introducing the program to future volunteers. His/her attitude and efforts will reflect the organization’s mission and constitute its future volunteership. As a result, the Chairman of Voluteer Services is the key component in functionality between the volunteers and the goals of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Takes administrative responsibility over the volunteer program: including volunteers reporting directly to him/her

  • Organizing and assigning tasks to volunteers

  • Retain volunteership through products, services, catalogs and promotional efforts

  • Role in relaying information between administration and the volunteer efforts

  • Retain communication efforts to recruit and establish new volunteers.

  • Further enrollment in the volunteer program by attending exhibitions, communicating with public relations department and promoting the program through social media

  • Organize and assign volunteering assignments based on each volunteer's schedule. Involves possibly putting together a comprehensive system of volunteering with times, names and obligations.

  • Responsible for establishing relationship between other organization for the furtherment of G.I. Joe Search and Rescue

  • Innovate the volunteer program to meet the needs of clients or a changing/growing organization

  • Prepare monthly and annual volunteership status




Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; sales, marketing, communications, wellness or related field of study preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, wellness or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in volunteer/staff supervision and leadership preferred.

  • Strong skills in leading and motivating volunteers/staff to achieve targeted goals and measurable outcomes.

  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.

  • Must have exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.

  • Social Media experience, required

  • High level of customer service

  • Strong writing skills to develop compelling content to a wide range of audiences

  • Association membership experience with specializing in membership recruitment, strongly preferred

The mission of G.I. Joe Search & Rescue is to provide assistance & resources to local authorities and families with missing loved ones. We are a self-activating team of search & rescue volunteers, and we respond when notified of an emergency rescue or recovery mission. We strive to prevent and assist in emergency rescue situations by: 1) preparing and training ourselves with survival and SAR techniques, and 2) educating the public on safety and survival techniques.
