ORGANIZATION: Guadalupe River Park Conservancy

Guadalupe River Park Conservancy is looking for enthusiastic, passionate individuals that are interested in doing animal care for our educational animal ambassadors! This is a long-term commitment. Duties required include, but are not limited to: cleaning animal enclosures, feeding/providing water to animals, enrichment (exercise/time outside), filling in log books, and other duties as they are assigned. Special items to consider are that interns may need to lift 20 lbs occasionally, be able to stand up/reach down for extended periods of time, be able to walk across the street and back, be open to working with exotic animals, and be able to work independently and with minimal direction.

The time commitment varies, but candidates must be able to commit to a regular 2 - 5 day commitment during the week.

The time of the shift depends on the individual, but can be any 2 hour shift from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Specific shifts will be discussed with the supervisor. Example volunteer shift: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM, or Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.

Our ideal candidate would be someone who has experience with animals (although it is not required), be detail-oriented, passionate about animals, animal care, and natural history of our animals. We would also love to have someone who is enthusiastic and positive to complement our current volunteer and staff teams.

Little experience with animals is needed, as an orientation will be held as well as on-going training with the Education Program Associate.
