With the new year comes new opportunities to help foster healthy ecosystems and trails on Mount Tam! Join us on Saturday, February 4th for a day of service on our beloved mountain. The rainy winter season is when some of our most important restoration work is completed, and when our need for volunteers is greatest.
Hands on Tam, formally known as Muir Woods Earth Day, is a chance to work in the Redwood Creek Watershed, an area of heavy visitation on the mountain, to prepare it for the year ahead. Together, we will work to improve trails, care for natural landscapes, and improve habitat for birds, salmon and other wildlife at three different sites:
Hands On Tam Winter Workday
Saturday February 4, 2017 | 8:30 am - noon, followed by a hot chili lunch celebration
Muir Beach
Where the mountain meets the sea, restoration at Muir Beach continues with planting, weeding, and trail maintenance projects. Come improve habitat for the endangered Coho salmon and threatened Steelhead trout.

Our projects are open to volunteers of all ages and provide a wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning. Bring just yourself, your family, friends, or ask us about how to sign up a group.
