Our Lady of Peace Home, Hospice and Home Care (OLP) is a free-care hospice providing care to children and adults. OLP is in need of crafty individuals and sewers to assist families of our hospice patients in making an Angel Bear at our hospice location in St. Paul, MN.

The Angel Bear is a teddy bear created from their loved one's clothing--a treasured keepsake for the family to hold on to. Volunteers are needed to help you cut, sew and stuff the angel teddy bear that will become a comforting and heartfelt memory.

Our Lady of Peace Bereavement Services hopes to host this opportunity several times per year and we are in need of volunteers with sewing expertise to make that possible. The first event is February 11, 2017. Please join us to observe the process or jump right in! Willingness to bring your own sewing machine is a plus!

Special thanks to Mattson Funeral Home and Cremation Services for their mentorship and willingness to share this beautiful idea.

Mission Statement

As Volunteers at Our Lady of Peace we know that our contributions, no matter how humble, help bring comfort, peace and dignity to our patients' final days. That is why we make it our mission to use our gifts whether directly or indirectly to help meet the unique emotional, physical and spiritual needs of those in our care.

Description

Our mission is to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults with terminal illnesses who have limited financial resources. The focus is on comfort care, which means being free of pain and other symptoms that interfere with quality of life.

Our dedicated Care Teams work closely with patients and their families to develop an individualized care plan. Because coordination of services is so important, each Care Team consists of a physician, nurse, social worker, pastoral care director, pharmacist and volunteers. Bringing these resources together under one roof increases communication, reduces response time, and keeps patients and families involved in care decisions.
