Thank you for your interest in becoming a new CASA volunteers. We will be conducting our yearly Winter training that will start the week of February 27 and will end the week of March 27, 2017. On a weekly basis the volunteers will be attending two- three hour classroom training sessions that will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can choose to attend Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9 am-12 noon or from 6:00pm- 9pm. You will also have the opportunity to sit through court hearings and observe real cases and active volunteers live on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The entire training of 30 hours classroom sessions and 10 hours of court observations is all that is required. Upon completion of the training you will be sworn in as an officer of the court by Judge Miller and obtain a certificate of completion for appointment as a Court Appointed Special Advocate to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system of the United States. The volunteers must have a valid driver's license, be 21 years of age or older and pass a background check. Please for additional questions call 770-505-0065. After your application is received a CASA staff member will contact you to set up an interview.
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. Too many spend years moving from one temporary home to another. They have no family to call their own. They are more likely than other children to face homelessness, unemployment, even prison as adults. That's where CASA steps in. CASA was created to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. A CASA volunteer is an advocate for the best interest of the children.

Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
