Outside of StorySlams, volunteers are also able to work on projects and assignments around their personal schedule. The volunteer coordinator offers a "volunteer meet up/work session" about once a month at a coffee shop to work on tasks such as: typing UltraShorts, entering in survey data, reviewing recorded stories for quality, providing skills towards graphic design projects, transcribing stories, etc.

Volunteers are notified of what the needs are for the month in the volunteer newsletter and can also work independently on projects!

Ex Fabula is a nonprofit founded in 2009, dedicated to strengthening community bonds through the art of storytelling. Ex Fabula founders are proud of the organization that they created and continue their involvement as Board Directors and staff.

By producing live storytelling events, we celebrate the power of true and personal stories to connect us. Paradoxically, stories reveal our shared humanity while also acknowledging that each person’s journey is unique. We can learn a lot from listening to the life experiences of those who are different from us. Each tale of struggle, triumph, and discovery reveals who we are now, and who we hope to become.

Ex Fabula is committed to diversity and hosts events throughout the city - from Bronzeville to Bay View and Westtown to Sherman Park.
