volunteers listening to a storyteller at an event

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month

Event volunteers ensure that Ex Fabula StorySlams run smoothly and that each audience member feels welcome. StorySlams take place September through May once a month on a weeknight. There are multiple roles to be filled for a StorySlam from being welcoming guest at the door to signing storytellers up to share on stage.

Volunteers are able to signup for roles at a StorySlam through the volunteer newsletter. Once you attend a volunteer orientation and become "active" you will receive the newsletter. The newsletter also contains a lot of other vital information and opportunities and is sent out once a month.

About Ex Fabula

Mission Statement

Ex Fabula is committed to strengthening community bonds through the art of storytelling.

Description

Ex Fabula is a nonprofit founded in 2009, dedicated to strengthening community bonds through the art of storytelling. Ex Fabula founders are proud of the organization that they created and continue their involvement as Board Directors and staff.

By producing live storytelling events, we celebrate the power of true and personal stories to connect us. Paradoxically, stories reveal our shared humanity while also acknowledging that each person’s journey is unique. We can learn a lot from listening to the life experiences of those who are different from us. Each tale of struggle, triumph, and discovery reveals who we are now, and who we hope to become.

Ex Fabula is committed to diversity and hosts events throughout the city - from Bronzeville to Bay View and Westtown to Sherman Park.
