Interfaith Outreach is in need of friendly volunteers to greet our donors as they're dropping off food, clothing and small household items (e.g. decor, dishes, books). The volunteer thanks the donor, helps unload donations from donor's vehicle, provide tax receipt and begin basic sorting of incoming donations. By staffing our donation door you can ensure our donors have a positive experience with the organization, safe the organization staffing costs, and help get needed items like food, toiletries and clothing to those who need it most.

High school students and adults welcome. Middle schoolers can also volunteer in this role with a parent or another adult to work with.

Information about Interfaith Outreach:

It started with a promise in a Wayzata church basement nearly 40 years ago. We will build a community where everyone counts, where all children are cherished and protected, and where family life is valued and supported by all. Since 1979, this great community has been doing just that - leading, rallying and igniting the power of people in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota to address the critical needs of people living right here - our neighbors. What started as a small food shelf has become a resource for thousands of families in eight west Hennepin County communities.

More about our Food Shelf:

Hunger in the suburbs is not always visible, but it is no less real. The Interfaith Outreach Food Shelf serves over 250 households per week. 40% of the people served are children. The food shelf is a safety net and supplemental resource for families and seniors who live on low and fixed incomes.

Fresh produce is available and restocked daily thanks to donations from local grocery stores through food rescue initiatives. Staffed by hundreds of volunteers who arrange products to create a grocery store choice experience, the food shelf is attentive and responsive to cultural and dietary needs and essential family products such as diapers, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products.

More about our resale store, Resale Select:

Resale Select is not your average thrift shop. Every quality clothing item, household good, piece of jewelry or furniture treasure is chosen with care. Since 2011, Resale Select has provided stellar merchandise at thrift store prices. It is a bright and welcoming place for the community to shop, donate and volunteer. When the public shops, everyone wins. Proceeds benefit Interfaith Outreach programs and services. Who knows, the business suit you don’t wear anymore could be the perfect interview suit to help a struggling mom land her first career job.
