Volunteers Needed for Teaching and Coaching

We are seeking teachers and coaches for our proposed after school program. Ideally, an individual interested in non-profits, academia, public health, youth development, business administration, and alike interests. In order to foster our mission, Luminous Elite has developed an after-school program that will provide an age-appropriate and structured environment. The offerings include: intramural sports, athletic training, fitness challenges, help with homework, development of subject (English/Math) skills, foreign language classes, arts and crafts, life skill workshops, and enrichment classes.

Focal Point - This program works to enrich the social skills and character of children while providing support for individual learning. Children’s innate curiosity and love of learning will be supported and nurtured.

Children enroll for five days a week for a total of six weeks. Each child’s performance from inception through the completion of the six weeks will be monitored.

Luminous Elite will work with students that: self select, identified by the school, and/or at risk per school’s assessment. Attention will be given to each child's needs assessment, teacher’s recommendations/feedback, and learning style. In addition, a competency-based structure will be employed to enable personalized learning, and provide flexibility and support to ensure mastery. Finally, learning will be tailored to each student’s strengths, needs, and interests. Luminous Elite is currently working with LAUSD to get an MOU application approved, as well as a curriculum plan that is consistent with the District's vision.
