DC Stop Modern Slavery (DC SMS) is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 located in Washington, D.C. We are a dynamic group of individuals united by our desire to combat human trafficking. We do this by educating the community and raising awareness.

DC SMS is excited to offer the position of Lead Organizer to a qualified applicant. This is a unique opportunity to truly make a difference in the fight against human trafficking. This position allows for the qualified candidate to gain significant experience in managing a non-profit and volunteers. The opportunity to work with a passionate team of volunteers on such a massive global social justice issue is extremely rewarding. Many opportunities exist within this role to guide societal change and influence local anti-trafficking legislation. If you have an ardent desire to help end human trafficking then this position is for you.

The ideal candidate must be very familiar with the movement against trafficking in persons in its various forms as it occurs internationally, domestically and around the DC metro area. Previous management experience is an asset. The qualified candidate will possess exceptional problem solving skills and competent decision making capabilities. The Lead Organizer effectively engages and supports the Leadership Team therefore strong communication and organizational skills are an absolute must. This position is well suited to an individual who works well with minimal direction, has a vision for societal change and is a team player.

The Lead Organizer heads up the Leadership Team and oversees all operations of DC Stop Modern Slavery. The Lead Organizer also sits on the DC Human Trafficking Task Force. Other responsibilities include ensuring the organization adheres to the SMS brand, mission and vision; engaging and supporting the efforts of other anti-trafficking organizations; managing volunteer recruitment; coordinating community meetings, trainings and some fundraising efforts; managing and overseeing the administrative operations of the organization.

Stop Modern Slavery is an all volunteer organization so dedication to the team and reliability are paramount. A minimum time commitment of 1 year is required.
