Do you want to help the environment and your community at the same time? Look no further than the Aberdeen ReStore. The Aberdeen ReStore is starting a scrap metal recycling program to reduce our waste and carbon footprint. The Aberdeen ReStore is looking for volunteers to separate unsalvageable items by scrap metals (iron) and precious metals (copper, brass, aluminum, etc). Volunteers might have to dissemble appliances, light fixtures, and other items for precious metals. Once a month, volunteer will use habitat van and trailer to take scrap metal to recycling plant in Havre De Grace. This volunteer opportunity is available Tuesdays from 10am to 4pm and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 6pm. Volunteers can do a 2hr or 4hr shift. This is a volunteer opportunity that requires a mechanical mind and knack for tools.
The Aberdeen ReStore is a nonprofit volunteer operated store. It is part of Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna. The ReStore takes donations of appliances, furniture, and construction materials. The donations are sold at a fraction of the price and use the profit to fund Habitat's mission of building affordable homes for low income families.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact John Lanigan at jlanigan@habitatsusq.org or call 443-466-3927.
