We are a small but passionate organization (9 board members) that seeks to raise awareness of religious child abuse and neglect and education faith communities on child development. The kinds of problems that we want to come to an end include physical abuse due to punishment perceived to be required by the Bible, medical neglect due to beliefs about faith healing and refusing medical care, and emotional abuse through harmful religious messaging. We are not an anti-religion organization but recognize that some religous communities and households that are not educated about child development can conduct harmful practices.
The excutive director has the responsibilty to oversee all operations, inclding bookkeeping (we have bookkeepers and an accountant already), communication with the board, and managing volunteers and independent contractors. Our main goals at this time are to expand our board of directors, fundraise, and develop a markteing plan.
The ED should care about our mission and have experience overseeing an organization. It would be a plus for the person to have worked in the nonprofit sector before or the field of child maltreatment. We are looking for an individual who is well organized and meticuluous, driven, and has good communiciation skills.
