The Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance (MHSA) is a nonprofit, public policy advocacy organization dedicated to ending homelessness in the Commonwealth.

Assist homeless callers in accessing permanent and emergency housing resources!

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to understand shelter and Housing First models, as well as for someone looking to gain experience in both direct service and research.

As a MHSA volunteer, you can expect to

  • complete phone and call training to assist callers and staff
  • gain experience in office administration and data entry
  • work toward a special project

What we do:

  • Educate about the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and solutions to homelessness.
  • Advocate for strategic use of public and private funding based on research and best practices.
  • Innovate cost-effective solutions to homelessness that prioritize housing and appropriate support services.
  • Collaborate with all levels of government and the private sector to bring our neighbors home for good.
