This month, our Health Education team is holding a series of events designed to empower homeless women to take charge of their health via periodic screenings, Pap smears, and education.
Volunteers are needed to help oversee the information table, distribute educational materials, manage sign-ins, and conduct client outreach. Volunteers will work onsite as part of the clinical team which includes Medical Providers, Health Educators, Medical Assistants, Medical Case Managers and Social Services Workers.
Care for the Homeless is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that operates medical clinics in partnership with shelters, soup kitchens, and drop in locations throughout the city. We also operate a 200-bed, transitional residence for homeless women in the Bronx called Susan's Place.

Mission Statement
Care For the Homeless fights homelessness by delivering high-quality and client-centered health care, human services and shelter to homeless individuals and families, and by advocating for policies to ameliorate, prevent and end homelessness.
Description
Care For the Homeless (CFH) serves 10,000 homeless men, women, and children annually and provides comprehensive health care at multiple sites co-located at soup kitchens, shelters, drop-in centers and street outreach programs in all 5 boroughs of NYC. Our service delivery model provides care where homeless individuals and families are receiving a variety of other services with the goal of reducing barriers to accessing high-quality health care. CFH also operates three transitional housing sites with on-site health care and is expanding shelter services in the future, ensuring a safe, supportive path to permanent housing.
In addition, CFH is committed to ending homelessness by conducting public education, research, and analysis of model programs and practices that create permanent housing opportunities, and by shaping policies to prevent future homelessness.
