MetIncPowerCo is actively searching for volunteers to assist with our 2nd Annual #ILUVEngineering STEM DAY powered by The Home Depot in 2 locations this year!

This volunteer opportunity listing is for our event happening in McDonough, GA on Saturday, February 11th.
Please note: Volunteers will also need to be available to attend the #ILUVEngineering STEM DAY Volunteer Orientation at The Home Depot a week prior to the event, on Feb 4, 2017 at 9:00am in McDonough.
Day of the event:
During this 3 hour event, students and their families engineer a wooden Valentine's Day Mailbox, where students craft their own special messages to their family in celebration of the day of love- Valentine's Day.
Students will meet an Engineer mentor who will share a "day in the life" real-world example of their chosen field to inspire students in STEM related careers and learning paths.
In conjunction with engineering their own special gift, students and families will also be invited to take part in a community-wide project to support local women and children shelters across Central Georgia by donating toiletries and Valentine's Day themed items as we encourage civic responsibility to help communities thrive.
Volunteers can choose to assist with one of the following volunteer roles:
- Engineering Mentors (x2)
- Student Check In (x2)
- Project Station Event Staff (help students with stickers, paint, etc) (x5)
- Distribute snack (x2)
- Valentines Mailbox Construction Assistant (x1)
- Community Project Donation Bin Coordinator (x1)
- Social Media Team: FB LIVE, Twitter, Instagram (x2)
Please note, volunteer roles vary based on the number of volunteers recruited for the #ILUVenginnering STEM DAY. We do our best to match volunteers with their preferred roles, but appreciate your flexibility on event day!

Our programs equip people to become empowered to say YES to their dreams and goals, and NO to destructive lifestyle choices.
Just Say YES to Youth Initiative equips youth to succeed by educating them through project-based learning, dynamic mentors, and out-of-the-box classroom curriculum, reinforcing positive choices and how to design a growth mindset.
Primary services are in the areas of Early Ed, K-12 Ed, & Adult Ed related to: Academic/ financial literacy, career readiness & entrepreneurship, STE(A)M services to advance educational enrichment for youth and adults, and birth-3yo language nutrition.
Our volunteers are on-site at schools, running our community-based learning labs in partnered public spaces or working virtually using tech to advance our mission to turn everyday places into public learning classrooms to help people evolve into their best selves.
