The Friends of San José Public Libraries are wonderful volunteers that support, advocate and raise funds for a library. Each Friends group supports a specific San José Public Library branch with book sales and other activities.
The Friends of the Bascom Library (FOBL) are looking for an organized, dedicated individual to resell donated books whose proceeds fund many library programs. Responsibilities include: posting and fulfilling orders on Amazon. To include: pricing books (a scanner is available), packaging books, shipping packages, storing books and shipping supplies for processing. Requirements: computer skills needed to maintain Amazon postings, personal storage space for shipping supplies and books to be sold, ability to ship packages (no reimbursement for gas/mileage), attend monthly FOBL meetings (second Saturday of the month) and a genuine desire to support the Bascom Branch Library.

Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
