The Friends of San José Public Libraries are wonderful volunteers that support, advocate and raise funds for a library. Each Friends group supports a specific San José Public Library branch with book sales and other activities.

The Friends of the Bascom Library (FOBL) are looking for an energetic, social-media savvy individual to help maintain their Facebook page and post major events or services offered by the Bascom Branch Library to Nextdoor and Facebook. Responsibilities include: daily management of the FOBL’s Facebook page, report at monthly meetings on recent activity. Postings to include: upcoming library events or services, photos from programs that have recently occurred and other library-related information. Posting guidelines will be provided. Respond and engage followers. Requirements: must be social media savvy, have a working understanding of administering a business Facebook account, be a member of the community surrounding the Bascom Branch who is either a Nextdoor member or would be willing to subscribe, attend monthly FOBL meetings (second Saturday of the month), marketing background a plus.

Description

Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
