POSITION TITLE: Iron Team Coach SUPERVISOR: Community Life Coordinator OBJECTIVE: Coach the weight-lifting team RESPONSIBILTIES: Coach and participate with Hammer’s weight-lifting team, the "Iron Team.". Provide tips, support, guidance, and spotting to the participants. The Iron Team meets on the first and third Mondays of each month from 4:30p-5:30p. QUALIFICATIONS: An active and caring individual who would like to help individuals with disabilities increase their strength and mobility through exercise. Volunteer should have a good attitude and be a team player. The volunteer candidate will need to pass a background check. TRAINING AND PREPARATION FOR THE JOB: All volunteers will go through online orientation through Hammer’s volunteer department. Other training includes a description of the volunteer program, role of the volunteer department, volunteer policies and procedures. The volunteer will be informed about the group and shadow the group before taking the lead role. However, we can be flexible. The volunteer will participate in with the Iron Team on the first, third, and fifth Mondays of each month from 4:30p-5:30p. The volunteer can decide if they wish to continue after the evaluation. EVALUATION: At the end of the commitment, the volunteer and the Community Life Coordinator will evaluate how the volunteering went. The volunteer will have a chance to evaluate his/her experience. At this time, the volunteer can decide whether to continue with the Iron Team, try a new volunteer experience, or terminate their involvement with Hammer Residences, Inc. Contact: cthoma@hammer.org

Through innovative programs, Hammer helps create stable, secure home environments that deeply enrich the quality of life for the individuals we support. Our offices are located in Wayzata, Minnesota and the individuals we support live in the cities of Wayzata, Minnetonka, St. Louis Park, Golden Valley, Plymouth, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, New Hope, and Maple Grove. Currently, we support over 275 individuals in homes and apartments and an additional 750 through other programs.
