About

If you have time to think about helping a child, you have time to be a CASA Volunteer. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers provide once-a-month visits to children to insure their lives are protected and respected. CASA Volunteers must be 21 years old or older, pass a background check, and have a valid driver's license. The children they advocate for (whose parents and not themselves are under court supervision) may reside with their biological parent(s) or in foster care. Training is provided to volunteers and volunteers are asked to give only one year of service. A child who is an agreeable match by the voluinteer is in need of advocacy for, on average, one year. Once children are either reunited with their biological parent(s) or adopted, the responsiblity of the CASA Volunteer ends. However, the support and stability they provide children lasts a lifetime.
