Church Outreach Assistant
ORGANIZATION: BABYSTEPS MINISTRY

We gain a lot of volunteers and donors in local churches. However, we haven't had the time to reach out to more. Will you help?
This volunteer will reach out to Seattle-area churches (we have a list, but you can add to it if you like) either in person, phone, or email - likely a combination of the three. We will ask that you follow-up multiple times.
These contacts will be to help us "get in" - either by scheduling a special meeting event at their church, setting up a table in their foyer, or just a quick introduction on a Sunday morning. It may even be as simple as bringing brochures that they can distribute at their discretion.
Note: This position only requires the volunteer to SET UP the meetings with churches via phone/email. Our team will be the ones to actually go there to tell about our program.
Required Skills: Outgoing, professional, and friendly personality. Willingness to be bold, yet respectful. Perfect written English. Computer & internet knowledge required as well as strong initiative and follow-through.
To ensure appropriate representation of our ministry, the volunteer must agree with our Statement of Faith: http://babystepsministry.org/about-babysteps/our-statement-of-faith/
We would also require that the volunteer attend at least three Relational Meal Events so they can be accurately described to churches. See http://babystepsministry.org/events/ for more information on our RMEs.

Mission Statement
Motivated by the love of Jesus, Babysteps Ministry seeks to empower the homeless to take small steps toward lasting life change through relational discipleship.
Description
Babysteps uses a relational approach to solve homelessness. Our first step is not usually to meet physical needs. It’s to be friends. To understand. To just be. Homeless men and women are people, just like you. Isolation and feeling ignored are two of the worst things for anyone to experience. They crush the spirit. Demoralize the soul. Harden the heart. And homeless people live with them every day. This is their single greatest need, and no amount of free food will meet it.
