This exciting event is scheduled to begin at 10AM on Sunday, February 16th, with a children's hands-on costume hat workshop they can wear during the run. The fun continues at 11AM with a quick lesson on how to sing the official Mardi Gras song with the Mardi Gras. Once participants have their costume hats and know the song, they're ready to participate in the run, scheduled at 11:30AM. Guests will stop at six of the homes located inside Vermilionville’s historic village where they will watch the Basile Mardi Gras Association beg for all the ingredients for the community gumbo and perform some traditions along the way. Following the Association's performance, children will be invited to chase a chicken and the one who catches it will get a special prize.
Volunteers are needed to help with the capuchon workshop for kids. At this workshop we will supply children with all necessary items and help them make their own traditional Mardi Gras hats to wear during the event.
