Visit Patients in their home as a Friendly Visitor

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Horizon Home Care and Hospice

At Horizon Home Care and Hospice, we believe in bringing comfort, care, and dignity to all of our hospice patients. We are seeking caring and compassionate people who want to make a difference in the lives of hospice patients. We will provide you engaging, empowering training to prepare you to serve as a Friendly Visitor.

* Make memories with our in-home hospice patients and families throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. Our Volunteer Department carefully matches you to a patient and/or family based on personality, location, and availability. We even go with you on your first visit to make warm introductions (and to make sure your invisible cape is operable).

* Exchange laughter, go on peaceful walks, play a game of cards, sit and enjoy beautiful music, listen, offer respite to the tired caregiver, or offer to help with household chores, etc.

* Your schedule can easily be arranged around your busy life! Volunteers are asked to serve 1-2 hours a week and report their visitations within a 24 hour period.

Contact us today and leave the best phone number and email address to reach you.

About Horizon Home Care and Hospice

Location:

11400 West Lake Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53224, US

Mission Statement

Horizon is a home care and hospice provider built on a foundation of care that celebrates the human spirit and the desire for security, comfort, and compassion. We are a professional team of 550+ employees and 150+ volunteers who make a loving difference in the lives of more than 2,500 patients and families throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. The idea of 'home' is central to Horizon. Home means different things to different people, but one thing it should always be is a place where we value each other. It's a place where people genuinely care about the comfort and security of others. We know our purpose is to give our patients home, whatever that means to them, wherever they are. More about Our Local Non-Profit Horizon Home Care & Hospice was established in 1990 and today serves as the second largest full service home care agency and hospice in Wisconsin. We are a local, non-profit organization sponsored by Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and Columbia St. Mary's Hospital.

Hospice volunteers at Horizon serve in many different ways:

They feed our patients. They reposition our patients. they befriend and love our patients.

They deliver a friendly smile and a meal to our homebound.

They file papers and send out mailings for numerous Horizon departments.

They serve at agency events.

They arrange flowers - hundreds and hundreds of flowers each and every week.

They welcome our bereaved in the Grief Resource Center and offer a coffee, pastry and listening ear.

They are on-call to be present for those who are actively dying.

They respect and support our staff.

As you can see, our volunteers do a lot for our organization. Come serve with us - you'll be so happy that you did.
