Description:


The Volunteer Curriculum Development Consultant will oversee Project Create’s Lesson Plans curriculum and Core Arts Teaching standards. They develop instructional material, coordinate its implementation with the Program Manager and the Teaching Artists, and assess its effectiveness.


Requirements:

  • This position is a 2 months service commitment of 5 hours weekly at the beginning of each program semester in January, May, and September

  • Curriculum Developer must utilize their own computer and software.

  • Telework is permitted; although on site work is preferred.


Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing the National Core Art standards and selecting ones that fulfill those requirements

  • Developing and compiling fun and imaginative activities appropriate for various age groups

  • Provide support and feedback to Teaching Artists while they complete their lesson plans


Qualifications :

  • Master of Education Degree or BA in Elementary/Secondary Education

  • Experience with Youth Programs, Art Therapy, Social Work

  • Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas.

  • Up to date with industry leading software and technologies (Adobe In Design, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc)

Description

PROJECT CREATE is a community-based nonprofit that promotes creative youth development through multi-disciplinary arts education and enrichment. Project Create teaching artists have been working with children, youth, and families in Washington, D.C. for over twenty years. Our students participate in out-of-school-time art classes, workshops, open studio, field trips, and exhibition and performance opportunities. Project Create offers free creative classes and workshops at our studio in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast DC in Ward 8, as well as at 14 partner locations in underserved neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. Courses include visual, performing, and digital media arts classes like drawing and painting, illustration, photography, collage, spoken word, fashion, music production and theater.
