Description:

Photographers work with the Project Create to capture Project Create events, site classes, and Family Art Day. This position is for 2 hours a week.


Requirements:

  • This position is a 3 month service commitment of 2 hours minimum weekly.

  • Design assistant must utilize their own computer and software.

  • Telework is permitted; although on site work is preferred.


R esponsibilities

  • Take photos at Project Create events like Family Art Day and Community Events

  • Capture photos of the student’s artwork when visiting the site classes

  • Artistic Ability: Photographers need to be able to compose a shot, understand framing, color and light to create a visually pleasing photograph.

  • Business Skills: Independent photographers need skills to bring in new clients, meet with people, talk with customers, as well as run their own business, keep records and keep expenses in check.

  • Computer Skills: Most photographic manipulation is done through computer. Retouching photos, adding details, or other digital additions will be through a computer.

  • Attention to Detail: Photographers must have an eye on everything before, during and after the shot. Attention to detail makes sure that every hair is in place and nobody is photobombing in the back of the shot.

  • Interpersonal Skills: When working with people, photographers need to speak clearly and in a friendly way to get what they want out of the photograph.

Qualifications :

  • Proven photography experience. Strong photography portfolio

  • GED or Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and/or Photography

  • Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality

They empower children to reach their potential by fostering critical thinking skills, creative expression, self-esteem, and social skills.

Description

PROJECT CREATE is a community-based nonprofit that promotes creative youth development through multi-disciplinary arts education and enrichment. Project Create teaching artists have been working with children, youth, and families in Washington, D.C. for over twenty years. Our students participate in out-of-school-time art classes, workshops, open studio, field trips, and exhibition and performance opportunities. Project Create offers free creative classes and workshops at our studio in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast DC in Ward 8, as well as at 14 partner locations in underserved neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. Courses include visual, performing, and digital media arts classes like drawing and painting, illustration, photography, collage, spoken word, fashion, music production and theater.
