Volunteers will interact with children, grades K-8. Volunteers will actively participate in games with the children on school playgrounds during recess, modeling safe, healthy, and happy play!
Key Responsibilities: engage in games with kids modeling positive play; model positve language and play for children to use with one another EX. "nice job, good try"; assist in resolving differences with postive play and language EX "let's do rock, paper, scissor"; move around play areas and be involved with kids, playing during recess period; and, encourage fun, safe, and postivie play during recess, grades 1st through 8th.
Skills and Qualifications: volunteers will agree to and pass a background check; attend and participate in Playworks training; comfortable around and enjoy interactive play with children, grades 1st through 8th; supportive and able to model and reinforce Playworks principles of postivie play and language; patient and focused on children during recess time; flexible, self-motivated, responsible, organized, adaptable, excellent communication and leadership skills.

Description
Playworks is the only organization in the country to send well-trained, energetic full-time program coordinators, called coaches, into low-income schools to become part of the community through play. Playworks significantly reduces bullying and exclusionary behavior at our partner schools, allowing educators to reclaim valuable teaching time. Our programming provides as much as 30-45 minutes of daily physical activity to children throughout the school day by engaging all children in recess and extracurricular activities that focus on healthy and inclusive play.
