The North Carolina Therapeutic Riding Center, or NCTRC, exists to empower children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities and challenges through horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities. Each of our participants may need up to 3 volunteers per session: 1 horse leader and 2 sidewalkers. The volunteer team works together to ensure the participant has the most successful session possible!
Volunteers are needed for the Spring 2017 Session, which starts January 27 and ends May 19, and new volunteer trainings are held weekly. We ask that volunteers commit for the entire/remaining session as consistency is important for our participants. They benefit from seeing the same faces every week, and volunteers are able to form strong bonds with their riders! There is no horse experience necessary to become a sidewalker, and previous horse experience is preferred to be evaluated as a horse leader. The ideal volunteer at NCTRC is reliable, engaged, and excited about our mission!
To get involved, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the farm at 919 304-1009. We would love to hear from you!
