Purpose: To support children living in Stepping Stones Shelter, Middle and High School, to succeed in and out of the classroom despite adversarial living situations.
Description of Duties: teaching effective learning strategies in order for the student to complete assigned homework, discuss any difficulties that the children may have regarding their current classes, serve as a positive role model to those you mentor in the program.
Time Requirement: Preferably at least one evening every other week (Monday and/or Thursday) of the advocate's choosing from the hours of 7 to 8 pm.
Qualifications: positive attitude towards education, above average performance in school, ability to work well with teens, 16 years or older
