Foster families are needed to house and care for a dog for a 3-4 week period prior to their entry into a training program at Lakeview Prison in Coldwater, MI. At the specified date the foster would transport the dog to the exchange point in Coldwater, MI where the dog will enter the program. The foster family would be responsible for daily care, feeding, exercise, and transportation to any local verterinary appointments if necessary. All costs are covered by the shelter and partnering rescue. The training program runs for 10 weeks and which the dogs are adopted into homes approved by Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan Animal Rescue. Foster families will be asked to fill out a foster application and undergo a brief home check by shelter staff or volunteers. Foster families must own their home or have permission by landlord to house dogs. Any current animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations. Meet and greet is required prior to placing a dog in a foster home, including any current dogs and/or children.
