About

Bright Beginners Advocate

Purpose: To support children living in Stepping Stones Shelter, ages 3-5, in order for them to have the healthiest development possible in order to then succeed in school once they become of age.

Description of Duties: teaching functional skills regarding emotional intelligence, cooperation with peers, positive self expression, understanding of common rules and social norms, teach effective ways to explore and understand their environment, serve as a positive role model for those you mentor in the program, write cirriculum for one hour classes, lead the class or assist a head teacher.

Time Requirement: Preferably at least one evening a week (Monday-Thursday) of the advocate's choosing from the hours of 7 to 8 pm.

Qualifications: positive attitude towards education, above average performance in school, ability to work well with children, some experience with childcare in the past, understanding and ability to work well with disadvantaged children.
