Make-A-Wish (r) grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. A Wish Granter will meet with the child and his/her family to help determine the child’s most heartfelt wish while planning special enhancements throughout the wish process. Wish Granters work in teams of two or three alongside Make-A-Wish staff to ensure every eligible child’s wish comes true.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Make-A-Wish(r) Wisconsin!
These are the steps to becoming a Make-A-Wish volunteer:
1. Attend a New Volunteer Orientation and Wish Granter Training
2. Complete an application, three reference questionnaires and our Conflict of Interest & Ethics Statement
You will receive these materials after the orientation. Make-A-Wish policy does require that all paperwork must be returned within 90 days.
3. Phone Interview
Once all paperwork is returned all volunteers will do a short phone interview with the Volunteer Coordinator to determine if the opportunities available will be a good fit for your needs and vice versa.
4. Complete a background check
Background checks are required for all volunteers; possible criminal background can prohibit people from being approved as a volunteer.
5. Start volunteering
Once all the above steps are completed, the volunteer will be approved and able to participate in volunteer opportunities. Information about volunteer opportunities will be provided by email.
6.Wish Granting
Volunteers interested in becoming wish granters must attend additional training. Wish granters act as liaisons between the Make-A-Wish office and the wish family. We will be having a Wish Granter Training immediately following the New Volunteer Orientation the day of the training. You are able to attend both this same day.
If you have any additional questions in the meantime please feel free to contact Jenni Parulski at (262) 781-4445 x113 or 1-800-236-WISH. Again, thank you very much for you interest in volunteering for Make-A-Wish!

Mission Statement
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Description
Make-A-Wish Wisconsin grants over 300 wishes per year to children ages 2 1/2 to 18 living with a critical illness. Our goal is to grant every child eligible for our program a wish.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed across the state in a variety of capacities to help bring hope, strength and joy to wish children and their families. Wish granting, helping with special events and fundraisers, and assisting with office projects are a few examples of how volunteers make a valuable difference.
Make-A-Wish Wisconsin is a not-for-profit organization that relies solely on the generosity of individuals and businesses to fulfill its mission. Gifts of cash and investments, estate gifts, and in-kind contributions are some of the ways funds are raised, and 77% of every dollar raised goes directly to granting wishes.
Make-A-Wish Wisconsin is one of 59 chapters of Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. Over 350,000 wishes have been granted across the nation since the Foundation's inception in 1980, and every day, more than 25 wishes are granted across the U.S.
