Did you know that it takes over 800 volunteers to make this event awesome?! We have several roles we need filled and can’t thank you enough for your consideration!

All volunteers will receive a commemorative event support team t-shirt, lunch and/or dinner at each shift attended, and an invite to our volunteer thank you party at the end of the year.

Please see below for job descriptions. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Tatiana (tatiana@tour-de-troit.org). As we are still in the logistical phase, please take into account that locations and times may change.

Packet Pick Up & Assembly

Location: TBD

Event Set Up

Location: Roosevelt Park (MAP)

Date: 09/15/2017

Time: 10AM-3PM

Before the big day, we need help laying out the park! We'll be setting up signs, stations, etc.

Sign Distribution Community Outreach

We're seeking three teams of two for this job. This assignment will require some traveling along the official Tour de Troit route. We want to give people as much notice as possible that Tour de Troit will be happening on Sept. 17th and where so they may plan accordingly. Volunteers will be given a map with assigned locations and asked to stick a sign outside that establishment. This one would be super fun on a bike (with some panniers, of course)!

Dates: Tuesday 09/12(Drop off) & Saturday 09/16(Pick Up)

Times: Negotiable

Barricade Crew

Location: Roosevelt Park (MAP)

Date: 09/16/2017

This is an early one! Arrive onsite and help set up barricades to block off traffic to Roosevelt Park.

We will be accepting late registrations throughout the packet pick up schedule and on the morning of the race, starting at 8am.

Course Marshals

Location: Various locations throughout ride route - Great for large groups of volunteers!

Date: 09/16/2017

Time: 7:30AM-1PM

Great for large groups! Work in a team directed under the supervision of a captain, helping with crowd control and directing riders while communicating safety concerns (such as road hazards). They also provide general information to both riders and the public while encouraging slower riders to the finish line.

Water Station

Location: Roosevelt Park (MAP)

Date: 09/16/2017

Time: 7AM-9AM & 11AM-1PM

Tour de Troit goes green -- Riders will be bringing their own favorite water bottle with them for the second year in a row! Volunteers will keep the lines flowing and let riders know they got the H2O.

Food/Beer Tents

Recycling & Waste Management

Location: Roosevelt Park (MAP)

Date: 09/16/2017

Time: 8AM-1PM

Tour de Troit strives to recycle everything we can but a lot of times, people end up throwing their recyclables and garbage in the same bag and it's a mess! We need some recycling savvy folks to help educate riders on where to put their expendables.

The mission of the Tour de Troit is to promote and encourage bicycling and bicycle safety through education, public events, collaboration with community and government organizations and support for non-motorized infrastructure. The Tour de Troit, the city’s largest cycling event, raises awareness of biking as a mode of transportation and publicizes the growing greenways network in the City of Detroit and all of Southeastern Michigan.

Tour de Troit has raised upwards of $200,000 towards non-motorized infrastructure since 2005.
