The overall goal of the VISTA El Paso ISD Community Schools Program is to help develop high-functioning community schools at four El Paso ISD campuses. Community Schools are high-quality neighborhood schools that do whatever it takes to make sure that every child is provided a great education. The VISTA El Paso ISD Community Schools program is based at four schools. Bowie HS, Guillen Ms, Hart ES and Zavala ES. The schools are located in the Segundo Barrio and Chamizal neighborhoods which have some of the highest indicators of poverty in the city. 85.3% of Bowie HS's students are economically disadvantaged and 83.6% are at risk. This VISTA project will help alleviate poverty by helping to develop high functioning community schools in EPISD.
