Give More HUGS is a nonprofit corporation registered in Texas and approved by the IRS with the 501 (c)3 status. The purpose of Give More HUGS is to unite giving souls to help provide students in need with the tools to inspire a lifelong love for learning, reading, and creativity. Give More HUGS unites communities to help students in need. Our programs provide educational resources, school supplies, books with inspirational messages, extracurricular activity equipment, mentorships, and most importantly inspiration. A qualified candidate will be highly motivated and passionate professional who can support and grow the mission and work of Give More HUGS.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success with a minimum of 2-5 years experience as a board of director or chair for a nonprofit.

  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent public speaking abilities.

  • Must work well in a team, enjoy working in a fast paced environment, and have cultural sensitivity.

  • Must be able to prioritize projects and meet deadlines; have excellent computer skills.

  • Must have strong strategic oversight and ability to develop and manage relationships with donors, prospects, community members, etc.

  • A strong candidate will possess broad philanthropic, business, or educational experience at a senior level.

Responsibilities:

The Board of Directors will support the work of Give More HUGS by working closely with the Executive Director and Founder to provide mission based leadership and strategic governance. The BOD-ED relationship is an active partnership. Active involvement from BOD is critical to the success of Give More HUGS.

  • Network with community members to garner financial and talent support; create and maintain relationships with donors and solicit donations including grants.

  • Attend quarterly board meetings to participate in decision-making, planning, etc.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and Founder.

  • Assist Executive Director with hiring and evaluating Leadership Team Members and Board Members.

  • Review organizational goals and outcomes to measure performance and effectiveness.

  • Approve annual budget and audit reports, being aware of and meeting all legal and fiduciary needs.

  • Contribute to an annual performance review of the President.

  • Board Members are considered ambassadors of Give More HUGS and will embody our values.

  • Create fundraising plans which will support the organization financially, including identifying donors and grants and soliciting for donations and applying for said grants.

  • Contribute yearly.

  • Increase organizational knowledge of nonprofit regulations, law, news.

Serving for the Give More HUGS Board of Directors is without remuneration.

There are 31.4 million children who live in low-income families across the United States. Millions of children do not have access to quality and relevant books in their homes.

The Leaders Readers Network, formerly known as Give More HUGS, is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to equalizing access to quality education. Each school year, we work with a team of teachers and students in underserved communities to deliver books and school supplies to children and classrooms in need. Our network of teachers and students are one of the best, representing a diverse and dedicated group of leaders who are working together to ensure children in their communities have access to brand new books, school supplies, and leadership development.
