Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Our shifts in our Giving Factory (located at 4141 W. George Street, Chicago 60641) give volunteers the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and sort, organize, and quality check the items donated to our organization. This is the perfect opportunity for corporate groups, families, sports teams, and many others to come together to improve the lives of local Chicagoland children.
We have volunteer shifts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and most Saturdays and Sundays. We have two shifts at 10AM-12PM and 1:30-3:30PM with some weekday after school (4:30-6:30PM) and work (6-8PM) shifts by request. Volunteer groups can be as large as 100 people and have volunteers as young as 5 years old.
