The Literacy Council of Union County leads a Motheread Program in local at-risk elementary schools. Motheread certified instructors lead a program designed to teach the mothers of pre-school aged children how and why to read to their children. Volunteers are needed to interact with the children (aged 0-5) in a variety of activities including reading aloud, play learning games or doing simple craft projects. Then helping staff tidy the area in the cafeteria used by the group. Sessions meet Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:45 to 9:30 am beginning January 10, 2017, and end on February 16th.
