ORGANIZATION: Camp S.W.A.G.

  • 9 people are interested

Camp S.W.A.G. (Students With Ambitions & Goals) is currently recruiting student teenagers 15-19, as part of our peer-to-peer mentoring program. The program will run from September 2017 - May 2018 (2017-2018 Calender School Year).

Mentoring training sessions will begin in the summer of 2017.

PEER MENTORING

Peer mentoring provides an opportunity for a caring teenage (mentor) to help develop a guiding, teaching relationship with a younger person (mentee). These activities will be curriculum-based, such as a high school student tutoring a middle school student in reading or other skill-building activities. The teenage mentors will serve as positive role models and they will be provided with ongoing support and close supervision.

Mission Statement

To provide a fun and educational, S.T.E.M. and entrepreneurial driven environment which elicits, develops and fortifies positive character traits. To brazen the value in benefaction and the necessity of respect, not only for each other, but also for one’s self and one’s environment.

Description

Camp S.W.A.G. (Students With Ambitions & Goals) or CSWAG is an eco-friendly, non-profit organization to help teenagers 13-19 of different cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds develop essential character traits - such as integrity, ambition and discipline - needed to succeed in life. We do this by facilitating a comprehensive mentorship program and by hosting yearly residential camps that balance S.T.E.M. based educational programs, sports activities, entrepreneurial workshops, financial workshops and volunteer activities. Such programs will ensure teenagers develop an appreciation for themselves, their community and the environment, while giving teenagers the opportunity and the means to grow, learn, and succeed.
