Capitol Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide companionship for seniors who are on hospice care in Austin and surrounding areas. Current patients reside primarily in Northwest Austin. Volunteers contribute at least 4 hours per month visiting their assigned residents at least once per week. They can reminisce, read, play music, or just be there for the resident and their caregiver. At no cost to the volunteer, background checks are required as well as two TB tests. Volunteers must also interview and attend a two hour orientation prior to working with patients. Volunteers will learn about hospice care and enrich the lives of seniors. Volunteers will also meet team members such as nurses, chaplains, and social workers. For more information contact Holly Swift, Volunteer Coordinator 512-897-0269, hswift@capitolhospicecare.com.
