Children’s Music Fund is seeking a social, innovative, and motivated student to be our Social Media Intern for the Winter 2017 session. We are looking for candidates that are passionate about music culture, social media, and giving back to the community. The position runs for 10 weeks, primarily focusing on preparing, creating, and monitoring content for the organization’s social media outlets. Under the supervision of the Social Media Director, you will learn best practices regarding in social media management and digital media/communications protocol. The Social Media Intern will conference with CMF’s Social Media Director every week throughout the 10 weeks to brainstorm new ideas and build a personalized project. This is an unpaid digital internship, with most responsibilities done remotely.

  • Assist in the implementation of a content strategy for social media & blog
  • Research industry news and other nonprofits’ social media strategies for ideas and inspiration
  • Monitor and maintain social media channels.
  • Brainstorm and write short form content for the CMF Blog
  • Draft ESP newsletter campaigns, press releases and internal communications.
  • Develop new content features for individual social media channels, in collaboration with Video/Content Intern (Quarter/Semester Project)
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Pursuing a degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or a similar field
  • Active participation and knowledge of social media platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
  • Must have access to their own computer
  • Basic photoshop experience (preferred)
