National Alliance on Mental Illness is America's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and familes affected by mental illness.

NAMI Geauga County hosts and attends various events each year, including; Miles for Mental Health, annual picnics, health fairs and much more! Our events strive to bring awareness and understanding to mental illness and reach our local community

You can get involved in many ways:

-Planning the event

-Fundraising

-Marketing the event

-Setting up/tearing down at the event

-Working the event

-Developing ideas for new events/activities

To offer mutual support and empowerment to persons and their families affected by serious mental illness through education, advocacy, and emotional support.

Description

National Alliance on Mental Illness is America's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and familes affected by mental illness such as major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation's voice on mental illness, a national organization including NAMI organizations in every state and in over 1200 local communities across the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission.

NAMI provides free educational programs and support groups for individuals living with mental illness and families/friends. Additionally, NAMI organizes educational events in schools and the local community.
