ORGANIZATION: Animal Rescue of the Rockies

Foster dog Leigh with Jory
Fostering a pet saves lives!

If you'd like to help homeless dogs get out of the shelter and into foster homes, this volunteer position is for you! We're looking for a volunteer to help our Colorado fosters (note: you don't have to live in the area!).

Foster Coordinator ~ This is one of our most important roles. Of course, all of our roles are important and we need all of them in order to run efficiently and effectively, but the FC role is really the cornerstone of what we do for a couple of reasons. 1. The foster coordinator is the "face" of ARR for every foster family we work with. They represent us in every interaction they have with the people who are gracious enough to save the lives of the dogs we bring in. 2. The FC builds and maintains relationships with our foster families so that they will want to continue to foster for us. Below is an overview of the role. Please read through it and let me know if you are interested or have questions and we can go from there. Foster Coordinator Responsibilities Overview
  • Welcome new foster families to ARR
  • Check in with foster families at regular intervals while fostering
  • Assist foster families with issues/concerns/needs as related to their ARR foster dog
  • Collect and distribute paperwork relevant to the role
  • Serve as primary contact for all foster families
  • Work with a team of other ARR volunteers to ensure foster families are supported
  • Time commitment is 10-20 hours/week
This is a time sensitive position. The work can be done remotely, but the ability to check and respond to emails AT LEAST twice/day (more would be better) is required. Although most things are not urgent, there will be urgent needs of foster families so if you would not be able to check and respond to emails in a timely fashion this role would not be a fit. Foster Coordinators work with a team of other ARR volunteers including a vetting coordinator, adoption coordinator. intake specialist and posting specialist. This model works really well for us and helps form camaraderie and a feeling of support. I oversee all teams, but for the most part our volunteers and teams are so strong that they work independently unless something comes up that I need to support. We truly do have the best volunteers!!
