Originally from TN, Mr. Jameson lives alone near the Junction in West Seattle. Even though surrounded by people around him, he is isolated in his one bedroom. His only visitor, his primary care giver his mother, who has to work part time to make ends meet. She has cared for him his whole life and has become exhausted. Mr. Jameson needs help with weekly laundry (2 loads), housework, and grocery, Rx shopping. Mr. Jameson experienced verbal abuse from his step father and is typically uncomfortable around men. He uses a motorized wheelchair, is a brittle diabetic (uses injection), neuropathy in feet/legs, and has a rare form of muscular dystrophy as well as anxiety and depression. Mr Jameson also requested companionship, as his only social outlet is the senior center to play Pinochle.
Many seniors and adults with disabilities who own their home struggle with light home repairs in West Seattle. Our program have 0 handy people to help with these tasks! Please call us to see if you can help with replacing a faucet, snaking a drain, or putting down a base board!
Volunteer Chore Services is a program of Catholic Community Services that serve seniors and adults with disabilities on a fixed income. Volunteers are matched one on one in the home of the frail adult to help with light house chores, grocery shopping, transportation, home repair, companionship, and yard work that helps them keep living on their own. Time and location are very flexible; you can volunteer in your own neighborhood and are provided with an orientation and coordinator support. Background check required and application.
