The purpose of Women United Clothing is two-fold. Our goal is to provide long-term solutions for women in severe poverty. We believe that providing training and job creation for women who are at high risk can not only serve as a solution for these women but also provide ethical/fair trade clothing for consumers who want to buy products that are free from sweatshop labor.
Our current work is a job creation project in Quito, Ecuador which provides rehabilitation and skill training for survivors of sex trafficking. We are working in collaboration with a local organization in Quito to start a tailor shop that can provide jobs for women coming out of their rehabilitation program.
We have a wonderful board of amazing women but are very aware of our gaps in expertise. We are currently looking for board members or committed volunteers who can provide:
Fundraising/Grant writing: experience fundraising for non-profits. Knowledgeable about strategies and is well connected in the affluent community with the ability to find and connect with large donors.
Sales/Marketing strategist: Experienced (5-10 years) in effective marketing tools, history of success and drive.
CFO: Financially wise and responsible, experienced in financial management and advising.
Legal Advice: Knowledge and experience of non-profit law and international trade.
Local outreach: Extroverted, driven and resourceful. Committed to community and well connected with organizations and neighborhoods in San Francisco.
