The Health Promotion committee exists to help the American Lung Association in Florida-Central Florida satisfy the mission of the organization as a whole. The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research. For more than 100 years, the organization has led the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air, whether it's searching for cures to lung diseases, keeping kids off tobacco, or fighting for laws that protect the air we all breathe. Each member participates in the committee and provides expert insight, volunteer engagement, and assist in the following lung-health related areas:
Clean Air (with a special focus on the State of the Air Report)
Tobacco-Related Advocacy (State of Tobacco Report)
COPD (Better Breathers’ Clubs)
Community Outreach
Legislative Meetings (10 Counties)
Asthma (Asthma Basics, Asthma 101)
Lung Cancer
Activities may include assisting with community presentations, helping to make connections with those in healthcare to expand lung health programs, serving as an American Lung Association representative when speaking to elected officials, and more.
**The Central Florida office covers 10 counties in the Central Florida area: Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Volusia, Flagler, Marion, Lake, Polk, Brevard, and Sumter.

Description
For more than 120 years, people living in America have trusted the American Lung Association to protect their lungs, whether it is researching treatments & cures for lung disease, keeping kids off tobacco, including e-cigarettes, or advocating for laws that protect the air well all breathe. Because when you can't breathe, nothing else matters.
The American Lung Association's mission is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. We do this through education, advocacy, and research.
More than 20 million individuals each year are helped by the Lung Association's programs & initiatives. We support everyone in this country through education, advocacy, & research. We impact lives by working to defeat lung cancer, championing clean air for all, improving the quality of life for those living with lung disease & their families, and creating a tobacco free future.
In Central Florida, we host two signature fundraising events - The Fight For Air Climb & LUNG FORCE Run/Walk 5K. For more information about either event, please contact Central@lung.org.
