Tired of not being able to use your library card? Register to take part in the first ever SJPL Service Day in honor of the MLK National Day of Service. You can Volunteer Away Your Fines at a rate of $20 per hour while helping the library maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
There are two sessions available. Volunteers can choose from the following time slots:
- 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM
- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
This event will be happening at all San José Public Library locations. Please arrive 15 minutes early to update your library account information and sign-in.
Details and Requirements
- Must be able to complete the full duration of the volunteer activity
- Anyone under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
- No experience or special skills necessary
- Training and supplies will be provided
- Ask a staff member for more details

Description
Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
