Dog Ambassador - Turkey Hill

ORGANIZATION: The Trustees of Reservations

Opportunity Overview Many of our properties within the Greater Hingham Area offer a stunningly beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life with many trails to explore, and amazing vistas to enjoy. We welcome our beloved canine companions on our properties, but sometimes they are not the most gracious guests, running off leash and leaving behind occasional 'presents’. Assist the Stewardship Staff by joining our team as a volunteer Dog Ambassador with the primary goal of meeting and greeting 2- and 4-legged visitors, providing information about The Trustees, and diplomatically reminding guests about our leash policy and cleaning up after their furry friends. Dog Ambassadors are welcome to bring their own pups, in hopes of leading by example! We will provide doggie bags, gloves and trash containers for any stray packages you come across while you walk the trails. Help our Stewardship Staff continue to keep our properties clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

Minors will require an adult to accompany them on this opportunity.

Qualifications * Have reliable transportation to the property * Desire to get outdoors, occasionally interacting with the public * Good communication skills * Dress in appropriate clothes and footwear for varying weather conditions * Experience working with the public * Ability to walk on a variety of surfaces including grass or uneven surfaces

About The Trustees of Reservations

Mission Statement

The Trustees of Reservations is here to protect and share the Massachusetts places people love for their exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value. For their trails, their history, their gardens, their beaches. For the simple reason that nature and culture can soothe the soul and improve our lives.

Description

Who We Are

We are more than 100,000 people like you who love the outdoors, who love the distinctive charms of New England, and who believe in celebrating and protecting them, for everyone, forever.

Together with our neighbors, we protect the distinct character of our communities and inspire a commitment to our special places. Our passion is to share with everyone the irreplaceable natural and cultural treasures we care for.

What We Do

We enjoy and care for more than 100 special places - nearly 25,000 acres - all around Massachusetts. And we are actively building an extended family of friends and neighbors across the state that can help in their different ways.

What We Are Up Against

Through more than 100 years of hard work and high standards, The Trustees have built a sterling reputation and a stunning physical legacy.

Today, the places we care about are going fast, and the forces undermining them, including climate change, are moving faster. We need to tap the wellspring of people’s joy - in their communities, their heritage, and the natural world - and mobilize a whole new generation to care.
