The mission of the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) is to reduce the millions of tax payers' dollars that we lose to Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse every year! Group Presenters empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, and their caregivers, to prevent, detect and report healthcare fraud, error and abuse by educating them on SMP topics throughout the community!

In effort to reach out to limited/non-English speaking communities, the Senior Medicare Patrol needs bilingual speakers to assist us with translation services & providing presentations in various languages. We are in need of Spanish speakers to assist us with bringing the SMP message to these communities!

What would a SMP Translator do?

SMP Bilingual Speakers will translate 5-30 minute presentations to group audiences, with some presentations including a Q & A end-session portion! SMP volunteers will be expected to travel to various speaking engagements within an agreed upon distance range.

SMP Volunteer Qualifications

• Comfortable speaking to groups in languages other than English (Presentations)
• Comfortable working with other volunteers
• Ability and willingness to learn and share information related to preventing, detecting, and reporting health care fraud!

Time Commitment

Volunteer schedules are flexible. You will be able to select the presentation that you wish to present at. Presentations are scheduled around the 5 boroughs.

Training/Support

You do not need to have any prior knowledge or experience with Medicare! All New York SMP volunteers will receive comprehensive training on the SMP program, Medicare Basics, and Medicare Fraud and Abuse!
