Gain hands-on nonprofit event coordination experience! You can use your event planning skills to facilitate and support Community Threads major events in the community. As an Event Planning Intern, you can work with Volunteer Center staff to provide administrative support, develop marketing materials, and help coordinate volunteers for Spring into Service and other volunteer initiatives. The intern will also support other Community Thread programs and events.

Responsibilities:
* Help secure equipment, set-up, and tear-down as needed
* Lead volunteer recruitment and coordination for Spring into Service
* Assist with service site development at local nonprofits for Spring into Service
* Help with uploading and managing content on online volunteer database
* Opportunity to develop promotional volunteer guides for group and family volunteer openings throughout the St. Croix Valley
* Other event planning and volunteer management responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:
* Strong organizational ability and planning skills
* Experience planning events desired
* Demonstrated community engagement skills
* Experience working with volunteers a plus
* Ability to take initiative and work independently with good judgment
* Team-oriented work style and effective interpersonal skills
* Willingness to ask questions and receive feedback
* Minimum 2 years of college completed

Time Commitment:
* 8-15 hours/week; 10 week minimum commitment
* Flexible hours between 9 am-4 pm; Monday-Friday (some evenings and weekends may be required)

  • Connecting community members through service and providing resources in the field of volunteer management through our regional Volunteer Center
  • Engaging seniors through our Stillwater and Bayport Senior Centers
  • Providing rides to medical appointments through our Transportation Program
  • Assisting seniors and individuals with disabilities in their homes through our Chore Services Program
  • Providing support during the holidays for families, individuals with disabilities and seniors in our community through our Holiday Hope Program
  • We also host a number of community-wide volunteer initiatives including Rake-A-Difference Day and Spring Into Service.
